The foundations of my practice include the Bowen family systems theory, Internal Family Systems, and Trauma theory. My work with children has also been inspired by the work of pioneers in play therapy like Dr.Garry Landreth & Dr. Eliana Gil
I embrace the many, complex elements that make up a child's identity, addressing their
cognitive, emotional, & sensorimotor development through play.
While American society emphasizes the need for children to "use their words",
trauma can rob a child of their voice,
Play therapy can be particularly useful as it-allows a child to select
from a variety of curated toys to tell their story and find their voice.
When a child experiences disruption,
it is a whole family experience.
Therefore I take a systems approach to healing.
I also work with adults who are dealing with issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, loss, and tauma.
My dream of writing for children's television inspired me to complete my undergraduate degrees at the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University from which I graduated with a BS in Psychology and and a BA in Telecommunication.

After realizing I really wanted to work with kids one-on-one I continued my education by completing a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy at what is now called Falk College at Syracuse University.
I've been a clinical member of the Association of Marriage & Family Therapy for 30+ years!
I am also a registered member of the Association for Play Therapy!
